The Program:

Craigleith runs one of the largest performance ski racing programs in North America. We have a dynamic program with passionate athletes, coaches, and parents with a focus on athletics and coach development from entry level to Provincial, National, and beyond. Our NZ/SOD FIS Program is an exciting program that brings together many athletes from across Southern Ontario to continue pursuing competitive ski racing with their like-minded peers. This program has helped develop and graduate athletes to the Ontario Ski Team, as well as various University Ski Racing programs over the past few years. The team is designed for racers ages 16+ who are interested in developing their fitness, skiing, racing and mental preparedness, along with their overall growth as a person.

General Responsibilities:

  • Primary Focus will be working with the other coaches, supervisors, and athletes to coordinate, design and oversee all activities involved in the training, travel, equipping, and competition of team athletes.
  • Provide timely and effective communication to athletes, parents, and other coaches.
  • Create written team goals and facilitate individual goal setting for all team members.
  • Organize and publish appropriate training for the entire year, including competition season, on and off snow, winter, spring, summer, and fall.
  • Foster an atmosphere of respect and courtesy between coaches, parents, athletes, and other clubs.
  • Travel with athletes to races on a regional, national, and international level as appropriate.
  • Assist athletes in the program in obtaining equipment in a timely fashion and in the training of

athletes in equipment selection and maintenance.

  • Manage the individual competition schedules of the athletes in a manner that maximizes opportunities for advancement and in accordance with goals with input from parents, coaches, athletes, and the Alpine Program Manager.
  • Participate in planning meetings with Alpine Program Manager and other team coaches.
  • Maintaining communication with administrators, parents, and athletes through meetings,

reports, and other vehicles on a regular basis

  • Modeling appropriate and ethical behavior consistent with program values and code of conduct.
  • Accountable for and adherence to financial goals including labor expense, equipment & supplies, travel cost and related athlete billing, etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years general ski coaching at the U16 or FIS level.
  • Ideal candidates have Alpine Canada Ski Coaching Development Level Certified status or Performance Level coach qualifications or higher.
  • Background in strength and conditioning is an asset.
  • Experience competing as an elite level alpine ski racer is an asset.
  • Team player, able to work well and communicate with other members on the coaching team.
  • Skill development oriented, highly motivated and holds self and others to a high standard.
  • Multitasker, high level of energy, stamina, professionalism, and dedication.
  • Ability to take direction, function independently and manage multiple tasks and teams.
  • Utilize various online apps and software for team communication, organization, camps, and

other budgeting reconciliation.

  • Represent Craigleith and the Programs best interest to external organizations as they relate to

scheduling and planning camps and other training projects.

  • Demonstrate team leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to think and act independently.

Job type: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 8 to 10 months depending on role.
