The Program:

Craigleith runs one of the largest performance ski racing programs in North America. We have a dynamic program with passionate athletes, coaches, and parents with a focus on athletics and coach development from entry level to Provincial, National, and beyond. We have many experienced coaches, instructors and mentors on staff that can help you achieve your professional goals.

General Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus will be working with the other coaches, supervisors, and athletes in our performance programs with priority on athlete development.
  • Assist in designing, monitoring, and implementing individual plans for all athletes.
  • Provide timely and effective communication with head coach, athletes, staff, and parents.
  • Foster an atmosphere of respect and courtesy between coaches, parents, athletes, and other clubs. Modeling appropriate and ethical behavior consistent with program values and code of conduct.
  • Travel with athletes to races on a regional, national, and international level as appropriate. This includes arranging the logistics for team travel including transporting athletes to races and projects.
  • Assist athletes in the program in obtaining equipment in a timely fashion and in the training of athletes in equipment selection and maintenance.
  • Assist the lead coach in managing individual competition schedules.
  • Ensure a safe training and race environment for athletes.
  • Participate in all on-snow and training sessions and help organize on-snow and off-snow training camps.
  • In coordination with other coaches oversee and coordinate consistent and regular athlete evaluations, including on-hill skill assessments.
  • Utilize video review/archiving online (Sprongo etc.).
  • Meet with athletes, coaches, and parents for program nights/explanations.
  • Assist in developing and managing an athlete retention plan.
  • Report all expenses (with receipts) to the Lead Coach.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years general ski coaching or instructing experience.
  • Ideal candidates have Alpine Canada Ski Coaching Development Level Trained, Certified or Performance Level coach qualifications.
  • Experience competing as an elite level alpine ski racer is an asset.
  • Team player, able to work well and communicate with other members on the coaching team.
  • Skill development oriented, highly motivated and holds self and others to a high standard.
  • Multitasker, high level of energy, stamina, professionalism, and dedication.
  • Ability to take direction, function independently and manage multiple tasks and teams.

Job type: Season Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 4 to 6 months depending on role and program.
