Who we are

Mount Jamieson Resort has been a staple non-profit operation in the Timmins community for over 60 years. As the only snow resort in the area, Mount Jamieson terrain is serviced by 2 quad chairlifts, 23 skiable runs, a 3-lane tube park with surface tow and 5 kilometers of snowshoe trail. Throughout the year, the resort is also host to a number of wedding, fundraising and social events.

Mount Jamieson Resort is dedicated to continuing the growth of its new brand by developing innovative, inclusive and accessible programing for all in the local community and beyond.

Who you are

As an essential part of the Mount Jamieson Operations team, the Snow School and Event Operations Manager will be an enthusiastic representative and ambassador of the resort in the community. This job requires someone who is passionate and driven while exhibiting sound management and training abilities. You are professional, emotionally intelligent and self-driven with a strong work ethic.

You will also work as a front-line ambassador welcoming our members and their guests with a high standard of service delivery. You are a resourceful, highly organized and positive individual with a client- first approach. You will oversee the flow of information through the office, track documents, maintain accurate records, manage daily operations of the office and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities. You are an outgoing, high-energy individual who is detail oriented and enjoys planning / executing programs, camps, events and competitions.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Snow School and Event Operations Manager will be directly responsible for the programs of the Snow School, Ski in School program and chalet functions / bookings at Mount Jamieson Resort. They will act as the primary liaison between staff, clients, local schools and community groups. They will assist with daily operations, reservations and communications with guests.

This position is also responsible for helping design, develop and organize programs within the Snow School, including, but not limited to; school groups, day groups and private lessons, weekly and holiday camps. They will liaise with local district schools and youth groups in organizing and implementing single and multi-day excursions throughout the season.

Qualifications & Experience

A successful candidate will hold these preferred qualifications and attributes:

•   Hold or be willing to achieve CASI, CSIA or equivalent qualifications

•   Experience in the snow sports industry, hospitality and reservations, sales and marketing an asset

•   Extensive experience in Customer Service

•   Previous experience in management and sales

•   Ability to demonstrate excellent planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills

•   Must be able to provide direction, feedback, coaching

•   Computer Skills: proficient using Word, Excel and email

•   Responsible, hardworking and high attention to detail

•   Experience with group management, staff training and development

•   Be polite, patient, understanding and have a positive attitude

•   Meet minimum physical requirements including the ability to train and teach as required, as well as be on feet for prolonged periods of time

•   Languages: Bilingual in English and French considered a strong asset

Tasks include but are not limited to:

•   Provide reception service for the department

•   Respond to incoming phone calls, email and correspondence

•   Perform administrative duties as required

•   Prepare passes for school groups and camp participants

•   Identify and resolve administrative issues

•   Verify accuracy and completion of documents, files and information

•   Determine priorities and mange conflicting deadlines

•   Provide support to the General Manager as requested

•   Oversee and provide direction to seasonal staff

•   Support the resort’s annual strategic planning activities

•   Answer questions about the resort, social happenings, events and on-hill activities


Job Type:                   Full-time year round

Compensation:         Based on experience including benefits package
