Lift Mechanic

As a Lift Mechanic you will conduct preventative maintenance, inspections, cleaning, repairs and troubleshooting for a network of 5 lifts including 1 detachable, 3 fixed grips and one conveyer helping ensure uninterrupted lift operation. You will be part of the daily start up and shut down team performing pre-start inspections, liaising with lift operators and addressing any operational issues. You will work closely with the senior management team to plan and budget projects and resources and be responsible for the on-time completion of quality repairs and inspections, maximizing efficiency and controlling costs.


  • Perform pre-start inspections, startup and shut down procedures
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues
  • Work with the lift operations team to ensure all required daily forms, reports and logs are completed
  • Monitor lifts during daily operation and troubleshoot any issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems and fuel systems
  • Maintain lifts to TSSA and CSA Z98 code and manufacturer specifications year round
  • Maintain logs and documentation relative to ski lift maintenance and operation
  • Record and maintain inventory levels for lift parts and supplies
  • Actively participate in the club’s health and safety program
  • Assist in training seasonal lift operators
  • Provide assistance with additional operational tasks as required


  • SLM-A (TSSA) Ski Lift mechanic certificate (or in process)

Skills and Attributes

  • Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical journal specifications & procedures
  • Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Comfortable operating, snowmobile, UTV, ATV and related equipment on uneven ground
  • Comfortable climbing towers and performing work at heights (Working at Heights certificate an asset)
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct lift maintenance activities
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with colleagues, other departments, and key business partners
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Calm under pressure and patient

Work Conditions

  • May be required to work in environments requiring personal protective equipment
  • May be exposed to dust, chemicals and high levels of noise
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must have the ability to read and write the English language
  • Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.

Alpine Ski Club is a members’ only club located on the shores of Georgian Bay in the Blue Mountains.  The club consists of 36 ski and snowboard trails across 120 skiable acres.
