Title: Snow School Manager

Reports to: Director of Alpine and Recreational Services

Summary: Snow School Manager

The Snow School Manager is to provide leadership, guidance and be a positive role model for staff working in snow school (assistant/apprentice instructors, ski and snowboard instructors, coaches, trainers, supervisors and the snow school coordinator). The job will entail both inside and outside duties that will enable for the smooth functioning of the entire department.

Job Duties: Snow School Manager

· Responsible for recruitment, hire, train and supervise qualified personnel such as; Assistant/Apprentice Instructors, Ski & Snowboard Instructors, Coaches, Trainers, and Supervisors and other positions as needed to support the departments operation.

· Develop and implement Alpine lessons and programs

· Assign instructors and coaches to lessons and programs as needed

· Facilitate daily staff meetings as needed

· Attend weekly inter-department meetings

· Set up and maintain any equipment (Signs, snow school equipment, teaching aids, etc)

· Implement and Coordinate the Apprentice Instructor programs

· Provide excellent customer service and leadership

· Provide both written and verbal feedback to employees

· Be punctual and reliable

· Manage and administer payroll in an accurate and timely manner

· Assist with the creation and implementation of department policies and procedures

· Be aware and administer Hockley Valley Resort policies and procedures as they impact your department

· Be willing and able to attend any needed professional development courses as arranged by HVR, or either professional organization (CSIA, CASI, CSCF, OSRA)

· Maintain acceptable labour costs in relationship to revenue generated as outlined by Resort management

· Coordinate and communicate with local organizations to increase public awareness of the alpine programs

· Assist with developing marketing initiatives to promote business growth of areas of responsibility

· Provide descriptions of new and existing programs

· Assist with costing of program delivery

· Oversee the sales, bookings and delivery of school and group programs

· Other duties as required

Requirements Snow School Manager

· Minimum CSIA or CASI Level 3, Course Conductor preferred

· Excellent customer service skills

· Ability to communicate, both verbally and written

· Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays

· Must be a member in good standing of either CSIA or CASI

· Have a reliable source of transportation

· Ability to work well with others

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in management or supervisory roles

Working Conditions

· Be able to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time

· Will be required to stand for long periods of time

Compensation:

$30 – $35/Hr

Seasonal, Full-time. 8 Months – Aug. 15th to April 15th

Contract length: 8 months

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mono, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • managerial: 5 years (preferred)
