As an essential part of the Beaver Valley Ski Club Operations team, the Alpine Programs Manager will be an enthusiastic representative of the ski/snowboard community and provide leadership and expertise to the Alpine team. This job requires someone who is passionate, risk and safety conscious and who exhibits solid management and training abilities as well as excels in the areas of creativity and innovation that are required to continuously deliver the exceptional Alpine program offerings that Beaver Valley is known for. In addition, an outgoing, high-energy individual who is detail oriented and enjoys planning and executing events and competitions will thrive in this role.

This role is full-time, year-round. Wage range:  $70,000-$80,000 annually plus benefits. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•  Develop strong relationships, build trust and creditability with key stakeholders in the Alpine

Community

•  Ability to recruit and develop coaches that will drive the competitive pathway for athletes

•  Ensure the competitive pathway for all athletes is well structured and makes sense from an athletic development perspective with a solid understanding of the Alpine Canada’s Long-term Athlete Development framework

•  Develop strong relationships with the Canadian Sport organizations to support athlete and coach development

•  Responsible for creating departmental budget and ensuring fiscal accountability

•  Provide guidance to Head of Recreation & Head coaches to develop and implement effective staff training sessions

•  Work with Group Sales coordinator to support schools/corporate mid-week programming needs

•  Collaborate   with   outdoor   operations   and   risk   management   team   with   event/competition preparation and execution

•  Other duties as directed by the General Manager

Skills and Competencies

•  Ability to demonstrate excellent planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills

•  Must be able to provide direction, feedback, coaching

•  Must demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills

•  Significant time working outdoors in winter conditions

•  Requires lifting, walking and skiing/snowboarding

•  Significant overtime required during peak periods

•   Planning  and  pedagogical  skills  developed  through  ski  industry  certifications  and  industry experience

•  Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills when working with clients and staff

•  Strong leadership and public speaking that will inspire confidence in the staff that work for you

•  Competent computer & writing skills

•  Flexibility when it comes to dealing with the fluid nature of programing days (weather, client’s

needs, staffing issues)
